I have all the paper cut, supply lists typed and everything is packed for the card buffet tomorrow. It’s going to be fun! And my blog is ready for the hop. I’m really excited about my projects, and I’ve seen some of my friends’ projects, too. They’re fabulous, of course.
Here’s another swap for you. It’s from Karen Thuen in Ontario. I don’t have the Button Buddies set that Karen used, so I made it a Christmas card.

Isn’t that cute? I love the baker’s twine that the vase is sitting on. And I can see that Basic Gray/Concord Crush combo being used a lot in my future!
Because I don’t have to make 20 of these (I tend to keep my swaps simple since we have to do a lot!), I added some layers and ribbon, but I kept Karen’s basic idea.

I used Whisper White card stock instead of baker’s twine for the image to sit on so it would look more like ice. And I like to cover the edges of a layer, so I punched a “dotted scallop ribbon border,” cut it in half and added it to the top and bottom of the white layer.
The one and only time I went ice skating was at a friend’s house years ago. I loved it, although I wasn’t as graceful as the girl in the picture. I even bought a pair of ice skates after – but our pond never froze thick enough to skate on. The only other thing I remember from that event was Mrs. Chumley made us hot chocolate when we came in while we waited for Mom to pick us up. My younger brother sipped it and said it was very good – and the milk wasn’t even scorched. I’m not sure if she wanted to laugh or hit him, but she just chuckled and said she usually made it without scorching the milk. I’m not sure why he said that; Mom never scorched the milk either. But he must have had a bad experience somewhere!
